Goal To try something new. To draw something without having to improve it digitally. To draw something complicated using simple elements. To draw dragons and each of them in a different way. To use for the first time my favourite rust colour scheme. To try known filters in a completely new situation (contains filters like diffuse glow, smart blur and contrast/brightness adjustments)
Additional goals achieved This deviation was a base for a whole series of circlets of amazing details and shapes.
Technique I drew the lineart using Stabilo fineliners. I used a ruler to draw straight frames. I pressed the fineliner quite hard to make sure that the lines are smooth and without blank spots. I scanned it (300dpi) and worked on it in Paintshop 9. I used the smart blur filter to make it look smoother, I made the image darker for better lineart. I used the diffuse glow filter for the background light and then I played with the colour balance to make the picture look like covered in rust. And that's it.
Story There's no great story behind this picture. I had no electricity and home and concentrated on something I could accomplish without any electricity-powered medias.
Next experiment The next step is making an alike deviation but using human bodies or skulls instead of dragons. The elements could also create a bigger picture of a body or skull when viewed from a distance. Here it's just a random collection of flying lizards. The new ornaments could be used to produce new circlets.
Time spent on this About 20 hours with lots of breaks.
Dedicated to a very talented guy who is responsible for my fascination with celtic knots :iconmaskofmirrors:

If You have further questions, even if not related with this picture or my art, feel free to ask. Oh, I am trying to add new information to this type of "tag", so if You want to suggest me something "(for example: add inspirations, tell us what music inspired you or you were listening at that time etc.) please don't be shy and do it. I really appreciate Your help.
Best wishes to You, my Friends.

It looks like a painted textile. Not digital but traditional. It reminds me to batik.

Done with simple stabilo fineliners and then edited in Photoshop (brown hue, glow effect):)
